Sara Neal

Sara L. Neal, MD, MA, ABFM, CAQ, Residency Program Director

Professor of Family Medicine, University of North Carolina School of Medicine

Dr. Neal graduated from Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University in 1994.  After finishing residency at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, she joined the Family Medicine faculty at Wake Forest School of Medicine.

She completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Moses Cone Hospital in 2006, joined the Cone Health Family Medicine and Sports Medicine faculty in 2009 and became Director of the Residency Program in 2019.  

Dr. Neal describes herself as a true “generalist,” as she enjoys both inpatient and outpatient family medicine as well as sports medicine.  She is passionate about procedural training including exercise treadmill testing, colposcopy, endometrial biopsy, musculoskeletal ultrasound and minor skin surgery.  Areas of interest include exercise and wellness, women’s health, LGBT health and learning disabilities. 

Dr. Neal enjoys running, hiking, kayaking and most sports, although she is the master of none!  She is married, and is owned by two cats and two dogs. 

Carina Brown

Carina Brown, MD, ABFM, FAAFP, Associate Residency Program Director

Associate Professor of Family Medicine, University of North Carolina School of Medicine

Dr. Brown graduated from Penn State College of Medicine in 2015. She completed her Family Medicine residency and fellowship in Faculty Development at the University of Virginia, and joined the Cone Health Family Medicine residency program in 2019.  

Dr. Brown enjoys teaching residents and medical students, with a particular focus on evidence-based medicine and health equity. She focuses her research on medical education, and regularly contributes to point-of-care tools for clinicians. Her clinical interests include women's care, transgender care and under-served medicine. In her spare time, Dr. Brown enjoys hiking with her husband and their dog (a Corgi). She also enjoys running and horseback riding. 

Brittany McIntyre

Brittany McIntyre, MD, IBCLC, ABFM, FAAFP, Assistant Residency Program Director

Assistant Professor of Family Medicine, University of North Carolina School of Medicine

After graduating from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in 2013, Dr. McIntyre concluded her Family Medicine residency at Cone Health in 2016, and was co-chief resident in her third year. She then served as junior faculty for a year before joining the full-time faculty in 2017. She completed the UNC Faculty Development Fellowship in 2019.

Her clinical interests include prenatal care, pediatrics, LGBT health, care of underserved populations, and end-of-life care. She is active in teaching medical students. She has a special interest in breastfeeding medicine and is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, choral music, vegetable gardening, and all varieties of arts and crafts.  She is married, has two children, and two cats.

Kehinde Eniola

Kehinde T. Eniola, MD, MPH, FAAFP, ABFM, Family Medicine Center Medical Director

Professor of Family Medicine, University of North Carolina School of Medicine

Dr. Eniola graduated from Olabisi Onabanjo University in Nigeria in 2006. After completing a Family Medicine Residency program at New York Medical College, St Joseph Hospital in 2012, she joined Wake Forest Baptist Health as a community physician in an underserved community in Lexington, NC.  

She joined the faculty at Cone Health Family Medicine Residency Program in 2014. She completed a Maternal and Child Health Leadership program in 2013 as well as a Public Health Leadership MPH program and Faculty Development Fellowship in 2016, each at UNC. In 2018, she graduated from the Cone Health Physician Leadership Academy.  Her areas of special interest are women’s health, prenatal care and dermatologic procedures.  

Outside of work, Dr. Eniola enjoys caring for her children Joshua and Joanna, and going to the cinema with her husband.

Dr. Margaret Pray

Margaret Pray Evans, MD, ABFM

Family Medicine Residency Faculty

Dr. Evans graduated from UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine in 2017, and completed her residency at University of Kansas Wichita Via Christi Family Medicine Residency in 2020, serving as Obstetrics & Newborn chief during her third year. She then completed the one year Ascension Via Christi International Family Medicine fellowship, spending five months working overseas in West Africa. She joined the Cone Health Family Medicine team in 2021 as full time faculty. She completed the Faculty Development Fellowship at UNC Chapel Hill in 2023.

Her areas of interest include obstetrics and women’s health, prenatal care, international medicine, and POCUS, just to name a few. She is also passionate about mental health and resident well-being.

Outside of work, she enjoys hiking and long walks with her fiancé and two dog babies, feeding the cows carrots, reading, cooking/baking, and gardening.

Dr. Kellner Pruett

Kellner Pruett, MD, ABFM, FAAFP

Family Medicine Residency Faculty

Dr. Pruett graduated from The Brody School of Medicine at ECU in 2017. She completed her residency at ECU in 2020. She then completed the Faculty Development Fellowship at UNC Chapel Hill in 2023 while serving as teaching faculty at ECU Family Medicine. She joined the Cone Health Family Medicine team in 2025.

Her areas of interest include medical education, substance use disorders, and chronic disease management. She is board certified in both Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine.

Outside of medicine, she enjoys running, pottery, and gardening. She also enjoys walking her two golden doodles around her neighborhood.

Dr. Alison Rumball

Alison Rumball, DO, ABFM

Family Medicine Residency Faculty

Dr. Rumball graduated from Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2018 and completed her residency at Cone Health. She then completed the inaugural Primary Care Point-of-Care Ultrasound Fellowship and subsequently utilized point-of-care ultrasound while working in outpatient private practice.

She joined the Cone Health Family Medicine Residency as full-time faculty in 2024 where she enjoys teaching residents. Her clinical interests include point-of-care ultrasound, women's health and pediatrics.

Outside of work she enjoys spending time outside with her husband and two children, camping, knitting, baking and reading.

Peter Koval

Peter G. Koval, PharmD, BCPS, CPP

Associate Professor of Clinical Education, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Eshelman School of Pharmacy

Dr. Koval received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Campbell University.  He completed residency at Cone Health and a second year of Primary Care residency in St. Louis, Missouri. 

In 1996, he accepted a position with Cone Health Family Medicine, Greensboro Area Health Education Center and the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Eshelman School of Pharmacy.  Dr. Koval has been Board-certified in Pharmacotherapy since 1998 and a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner since 2006.  He served as the initial chair of the national Ambulatory Care Pharmacist Board Certification exam through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) from 2009–2011.  He currently serves as the Executive Board Chair for BPS. His practice includes management of a variety of chronic diseases and tobacco cessation. 

Dr. Koval’s family consists of his wife Dana and their two children, Olivia and Kyle. 

Danielle Scott, PhD

Danielle Scott, PhD, LCP, HSP-P

Behavioral Health Faculty

Dr. Danielle Scott is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and a Health Services Provider-Psychologist who earned her Doctorate of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from the University of Virginia. Dr. Scott completed her doctoral internship in the Department of Psychiatry at the VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA.

Dr. Scott has worked in a variety of settings including inpatient and acute care medical centers, community mental health facilities, and schools. Dr. Scott most recently owned/operated an outpatient mental health practice, which focused on providing psychological and psychoeducational evaluations to children, adolescents, and adults. Her areas of specialty include diagnostic evaluations (i.e., particularly differential diagnosis of ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Depression, & Anxiety), integrated behavioral health care, mental performance, and cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy.

Outside of work, Dr. Scott enjoys spending time with her husband and twins. You can catch her in her spare time traveling to see her daughter or son compete at a pool or basketball gym.

Christie Reynolds

Christie Reynolds, MHA, Population Health and Quality Manager

Ms. Reynolds earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Health at UNC Greensboro and her Master of Healthcare Administration at UNC Chapel Hill.  At the Family Medicine Center, she works with staff, residents and faculty to reach quality goals, improve processes and to use data to prioritize population health management projects.  She is interested in team-based care, health coaching and improving processes to reduce physician burnout and improve patient outcomes.  Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, yoga and spending time outdoors with her husband Matt, their son Thomas and their dog Tucker.

Shane Hudnall MD

Shane Hudnall, MD, ABFM, CAQSM

Program Director of Cone Health Sports Medicine Fellowship, Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine, University of North Carolina School of Medicine

Dr. Hudnall graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 2007, and did his family medicine residency at Cone Health, graduating in 2010. He then completed his sports medicine fellowship at Cone Health in 2011.

Dr. Hudnall’s love for sports is a big reason why he pursued a career in sports medicine. He is a big fan of the University of Notre Dame, the Chicago Cubs, and the Indianapolis Colts. Dr. Hudnall has a special interest in sports injuries and chronic tendinopathies but enjoys the variety that comes with practicing in the field of sports medicine. His is an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine serving on the Fellowship and Practice Policy Committees. He currently serves as a team physician for Guilford College and the Greensboro Grasshoppers. 

He enjoys spending time with his wife and their two children. His hobbies include running, watching and playing sports, movies, sketch and stand-up comedy, and coaching youth sports. 

Bret Jacobs

Bret Jacobs, DO, CAQSM, FAMSSM

Associate Program Director Cone Health Sports Medicine Fellowship, Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine, UNC-Chapel Hill

Bret Jacobs, DO, specializes in sports medicine. His professional interests include sports injuries, tendinopathy, running medicine and musculoskeletal ultrasound.

Dr. Jacobs takes care of athletes of all ages and ability levels with a focus on returning patients back to the activities they enjoy. He has extensive experience with professional, collegiate, high school and amateur athletes. As a sports medicine physician, he has a unique skill set to address any non-operative orthopedic and musculoskeletal needs. Using an open dialogue, he builds rapport, personalizes treatment plans and focuses on helping patients lead a healthy and active life. He is an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and serves on the Fellowship and Education Committees.  He currently serves as a team physician for the Greensboro Grasshoppers and the Greensboro Gargoyles.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, son and dog. He is a fan of soccer and Penn State Football. His hobbies include fly fishing, fly tying, golfing and cooking.

Karl Fields

Karl B. Fields, MD, ABFM, CAQSM, FAMSSM

Emeritus Fellowship Director of Sports Medicine, Professor of Family Medicine, University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Director of Undergraduate Medical Education Greensboro AHEC

Dr. Fields graduated from the University of Kentucky School of Medicine in 1976 and the Charlotte Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency in 1979. 

After practicing in rural North Carolina for four years, he joined the Moses Cone Family Medicine Residency Program in 1984.  He completed the Faculty Development Fellowship at UNC Chapel Hill.  He is editor for Sports Medicine topics for UpToDate.  He is a past president of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.  He has been a visiting professor in Norway, China, Chile, Italy, Australia, Turkey and South Africa, and chaired the International Team Physician Course for the American College of Sports Medicine. 

Key interests include musculoskeletal ultrasound, running injuries, diagnosis and management of foot problems and approaches to management of chronic tendinopathy.

OB/GYN Faculty

Mateo Eckstat MD, MPH

Mateo Eckstat, MD, MPH, ABFM

OB Fellowship Director, Cone Health

Dr. Eckstat graduated from medical school at Northwestern University in 2016, and completed his residency in family medicine at Boston Medical Center in 2019. He then completed his fellowship in obstetrics in 2021 here at Cone Health, and is now the director of the Cone Health OB Fellowship.

He is passionate about caring for underserved populations, including immigrants, transgender and non-binary patients, those suffering from opioid use disorder, or anyone who has faced discrimination or barriers to accessing care.

Dr. Eckstat is bilingual in English and Spanish, and enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He also enjoys watching soccer, bicycling, hiking, and riding motorcycles.

Tanya Pratt

Tanya S. Pratt, MD, ABFM, ABOG

Medical Director of Women's Health Division of Guilford County Health Department; OB/GYN Chief of Service, Moses Cone Hospital

Dr. Pratt received her BS in Biology from High Point University. After receiving her medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine Chapel Hill,

Dr. Pratt completed her residency at Riverside Regional Medical Center in OB/GYN and Family Medicine.  She is board-certified in Family Medicine as well as in Obstetrics and Gynecology.  She is a graduate of the Cone Health Physician Leadership Academy. She took over the role of Medical Director of the Faculty Practice in February 2016. 

Her interests include teaching evidence-based medicine, performing office procedures and decreasing the primary cesarean section rate.
