Pediatric Social Worker 

I’m Cherish, and I’ve been serving as a pediatric social worker at Cone Health for almost three years now. Before joining the team here, I had a diverse background, having worked with the prosecutor’s office and law enforcement. It was my work in those industries that led me to explore social work within health care, where I ultimately ended up at Cone Health.

One day after starting my role at Cone Health in the adult unit, I was asked to fill in for a coworker on the Pediatrics support team. This opportunity reminded me how much I enjoyed working with children in my previous roles. I distinctly remember telling my supervisor that I would jump at the chance to work in pediatrics if the opportunity arose.

When I expressed my interest, my supervisor encouraged me to explore it further. I was given the opportunity to shadow a pediatric social worker, and from that moment on, I knew this was where I was meant to be. Every day at Cone Health feels like a privilege. I wake up excited to go to work, knowing that I’m making a difference not just as a social worker, but as part of a dedicated team working towards a common goal—to provide the best care possible for our pediatric patients and their families.
