Jill M.

Registered Nurse

Jill M Registered Nurse

In my 37-year tenure as a registered nurse at Cone Health, the year 2010 stands out as a pivotal moment when I transitioned from caregiver to patient. Diagnosed with breast cancer, I found myself immersed in a whirlwind of treatment and uncertainty. Yet, amidst the challenges, I was met by the unwavering support of my coworkers, who became a critical piece of my journey.

Their acts of kindness, from bringing meals to caring for my children, exemplified the true essence of care and friendship. Moreover, the breast cancer survivor support group at Cone Health provided invaluable guidance and solidarity, guiding me through the uncharted territory
I was facing.

I embraced my role as both a survivor and a nurse with renewed empathy and understanding. Today, as I encounter patients facing similar battles, I share my journey openly, offering not only medical expertise but also hope and encouragement.

My journey has taught me that it’s our ability to uplift and support one another that truly defines our humanity. And for that, I am eternally grateful.
